An African maid, FN 22, accused of stealing four gold rings worth Dh3,500 from her UAE national employer, Sumaia Abbas, will hear the verdict on November 15.

Abbas told the Dubai Criminal Court yesterday that her aunt woke her up on the morning of the robbery and informed her that the defendant had run away. When she examined her personal objects, four gold rings worth Dh3,500 were found missing. She then informed her husband, Gulam Khorsheed, who was abroad on the day of the robbery.

While the incident took place on December 27, 2007, the case was being heard for the first time yesterday, raising suspicion about its veracity. The accused has been remanded to to judicial custody.
