His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as the Ruler of Dubai, has issued law No31 of 2009 setting up the Government of Dubai Human Resources Department.

Working in tandem with the Dubai Ruler's Court, the department will be tasked with founding a government body to oversee the development of an integrated strategy to be applied to all government human resources. It will also be responsible for setting up an administrative framework at government bodies, as well as updating their in-house HR systems and practices.

Sheikh Mohammed also issued a decree appointing Amal Mohammed bin Udai as Director General of the department, effective November 1.
