The General Civil Aviation Authority has granted a licence to Fujairah International Airport (FIA) after it met all necessary safety and security requirements.
The airport had been operating under the temporary licencing programme for airports in the UAE. The programme is designed to raise operational, security and safety standards.
Airport manager Khalid Al Mazroui received the certificate from Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the authority, at its office in Dubai.
"The FIA has proved by its exact execution of the programme its commitment to implementing all necessary and expected requirements needed to receive such a certificate," said Al Mazroui.
He said the airport had demonstrated high standards in all its operations including infrastructure and handling aircraft traffic on the runway.
